EyeStill Reader · In your browser · Free

The long ones, finally.

Open a book and read it at one point of focus, paced like a careful reader: rare words get time, sentences land, and your place is always saved. A 90,000-word novel becomes a few evenings instead of a few months.

02 — Pacing

Fast where it can be, slow where it should be.

A fixed words-per-minute rate reads “the” and “phenomenology” in the same time. EyeStill sets a ceiling and lets the text set the rhythm under it.

Rare words get time
Each word is weighed by how common it is — for Russian with the Russian National Corpus frequency list — so a rare word stays a beat longer and “and” flies by.
Meaning groups
Optionally read two-three words at a time — a preposition with its noun, a short phrase — balanced around one red letter.
Sentences land
Commas breathe and sentence ends pause, scaled by how long the clause was; a change of scene gets a little extra room, and “he said” tags go by quickly.

03 — Staying with it

Speed is only useful if you are still reading.

Look away, it pauses
Optional webcam eye tracking, processed in the browser: when your gaze leaves the line, reading stops and steps back two words.
Quick checks
On pause, an occasional one-question quiz about what you just read — answer with 1, 2 or 3 — keeps speed honest.
Background for the scene
An optional illustration of the current scene behind the text, kept soft so the words stay readable.

The camera never leaves your device. The scene illustration is generated by Pollinations.ai from a short excerpt — it can be switched off, see the privacy policy.
